Being a great Teammate
Being a good Athlete is not just focusing on yourself
On every sports team, you have a variety of different types of teammates (the clown, the shy one, the ‘’hype’’ one, the leader, the selfish one etc). But for a team to be successful or as a player, everybody needs to be a great teammate, because good relationships between teammates is an important foundation for the success of any team. Success does not necessarily mean winning, success can be the enjoyment had by those involved on the team throughout the season and creating memories of it. Being a good teammate does not only mean building chemistry with as a group, as a player you need to understand your own strengths and weaknesses, so when you are going to play you do the things that you are good at and not stuff that your friend showed you that doesn’t define what type of player you are. You have other teammates to do the stuff that you are maybe less good at. And yes sometimes for example: at the end of your basketball game, your team needs a 3pts basket, but you are not a good shooter so the coach put you on the bench, don’t be pissed and be mad, instead go cheer for your team if you want to build chemistry and momentum so that your team can win the game. Plus by doing that, it will help gain respect from your coach, which is as important as the respect from your teammates, this will affect maybe your playing-time, or your coach talking to scouts etc.
