Mental preparation

Before, During, and for Future

To be a good athlete, one important thing that you need to perform at your best is getting ready mentally. Mental preparation affects your preparation and the outcomes of your game, for example visualising your game before will affects how you will play because just before the game, you put yourself in situations that you already been, like in hockey if you have the puck at the blue line you have many choices (dump it in the corner, shoot, pass to the other D-man) and if you would imagine that before the game, you’ll know what to do without even thinking. Mentally prepared is believing in yourself to, positive self talk, telling yourself that you are good enough, puts some goals that you can achieve, all of this will help you not doubting yourself. Because when you are doubtful it is making you questioning yourself, which lowers self-confidence and affects your game negatively because on every move you’ll make you will hesitate. But at the end, we are all human beings, which means that most common thing that we all do are mistakes, so when it happens don’t focus on the mistake itself, but focus on what you can do so that it won’t happen again, get over it and be ready for the next shift.
